One of the common asks from business of an integration or automation engineer is to create daily data files in Excel with multiple spreadsheets, either for consumption by an internal application, processes, or sending to external parties over FTP or email.
Azure Data Factory, for a surprising reason, only provides Excel as a data source, but not as a sink. This forces most developers come back with alternate options – either offload it to software developers working in technologies like C#, PowerBI or RPA.
When we faced with a similar challenge, and overcoming challenges of developing custom integration for ADF, we decided to build a solution that’s easy to use with ADF and other applications in Azure – like using with Logic Apps, Microsoft Flow, internal applications, Webhooks, etc., and it can be used across the organization.
The API, to provide customers with their data compliance, is provided as a Docker Container, and will be deployed to your Azure environment within a couple of clicks.
Simply select the subscription, and deploy to the ACR. Once in the org, click the three dots against the repository, and click create app service, and provide the name.
Instructions to ADF developers on using the API is provided here.
